Achari gosht:


For beef marinade:

  • Beef: 1kg(cut into medium pieces)
  • Mustard Oil: 1/4cup
  • Yogurt: 1/4cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Red chili powder: 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder: 1 tsp
  • Fried Onion(beresta): 1/4cup
  • Ginger paste: 1tbsp
  • garlic paste: 1/2 tbs
  • Coriander powder: 1 tsp
  • (Cardamom: 3(medium), cinnamon: 4, clove: 3, bay leaf: 2 )pieces
  • Cumin powder: 1tsp

Achari masala:

  • Whole red chilies: 6
  • Paanch phoron: 1/2tbsp
  • Mustard seeds: 1tsp
  • Cumin seeds: 1tsp
  • Tamarind paste: 1tsp
  • Sugar: 1/2tbsp


  • You can use sweet and sour mango pickle around: 2tbsp



Cut the beef into medium pieces. Wash them well.
Mix the beef with all the above marinade ingredients and leave for half an hour.
Heat a karahi and add marinated beef pieces with spices and cook on high flame for 5 minutes. Add 1cup water and Then cover and let cook on low heat until meat is tenderized (around 1 hour). Keep stirring occasionally.
Dry roast all the achari ingredients except tamarind and sugar. Cool slightly and grind coarsely.
Now add achari masala, tamarind and sugar and let it cook for 10 mins on low heat.
Sprinkle 1tbsp lemon juice and turn off the heat. Let it cover and rest for 15 minutes.
Serve hot with rice or khichuri or parathas/chapatis.
