chicken shawrma:


Preparing pitha bread:

  • All purpose flour: 2cup
  • Instant yeast: 2tsp
  • Salt: 1 tsp
  • Milk powder: 2tbsp
  • Oil: 3tbsp
  • Yogurt: 2tbsp
  • Warm water as needed


In a bowl, add flour, salt, milk powder and yeast.mix very well.
Mix yogurt with oil and pour this mixture onto flour mixture.mix well. Add enough warm water to make soft dough. Knead until you have smooth, springy dough.
Place the ball of dough in a large flour-dusted bowl. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and place in a warm room (or in a warm oven) for about 1 hour until the dough has doubled in size.
 Once rise, take out the dough in floured surface and divide the dough into 6 balls.
 Make round bread from the dough.
Cook it on frying pan or tawa or bake for 5 minutes in oven.

 Preparing chicken:

  • Chicken boneless : 500mg(cut into cubes)
  • Plain yogurt: 1/4cup
  • Vinegar : 1tbsp
  • Garlic paste: 2tsp
  • Ginger paste: 1tsp
  • Black Pepper: 1 tsp
  • Paprika or Red chilli powder: 1tsp
  • cumin powder: 1tsp
  • Tandoori masala: 1tbsp
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon
  • Lemon Juice: 1 tsp
  • Tomato sauce: 1tbsp
Add all ingredients to a bowl and stir. Marinate at least 3 hours, preferably overnight.
Heat oil in a frying pan, adds chicken with marinated ingredients and cook over medium hotness for 20 minutes or until done.
Or grill them until tender.
Cut chicken pieces into small pieces and Set aside.

Preparing sauce:

  • Mayonnaise: 1/4cup
  • Yogurt: 1/4cup
  • Minced Garlic: 2 cloves or 2tsp
  • Lemon juice: 1tbsp
  • Salt as needed
  • Butter: 1tbsp
  • chopped fresh coriander leaves: 2tbsp
  • paprika or pepper: 1tsp


Mix all the ingredients and adjust flavors if desired. Cover and refrigerate.


  • Chopped onions: 2tbsp
  • Sliced and boiled cabbage: 1/2cup
  • Sliced and boiled carrot: 1/2cup
  • Sliced tomatoes: 1/4cup
Spread some garlic sauce or tomato ketchup or mayonnaise onto pitha breads. Place sliced chicken, tomato, onion, carrot and cabbage over the sauce.
Roll and wrap with greaseproof paper or foil.
Serve hot..
