Beef shawrma pocket


Preparing pita bread:

  • All purpose flour: 2cup
  • Instant yeast: 2tsp
  • Milk powder: 2tbsp
  • Salt: 1 tsp
  • Oil: 2tbsp
  • Luke Warm water as needed (3/4 cup)
In a bowl, add flour, salt, milk powder and yeast.mix very well.
Pour oil onto flour mixture, mix well. Add enough warm water to make soft dough. Knead until you have smooth, springy dough (around 5 minutes).
Place the ball of dough in a large flour-dusted bowl. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and place in a warm room (or in a warm oven) for about 1 hour until the dough has doubled in size.
Once rise, take out the dough in floured surface and divide the dough into 6 balls.
Make about 1/4inch thick round bread from the dough.
Preheat your oven at 220C and bake pita bread for 5 minutes.

Preparing meat:

  • Beef or Chicken boneless : 300mg(cut into cubes)
  • Plain yogurt: 1/4cup
  • Vinegar : 1tbsp
  • Garlic paste: 2tsp
  • Ginger paste: 1tsp
  • Black Pepper: 1 tsp
  • Paprika or Red chilli powder: 1tsp
  • Salt: 1 teaspoon
  • Lemon Juice: 1 tsp
  • Tomato sauce: 1tbsp
Add all ingredients to a bowl and stir. Marinate at least 3 hours, preferably overnight.
Heat oil in a frying pan, adds beef with marinated ingredients and cook over medium hotness for 30 minutes or until done.
Or grill them until tender.
Cut beef pieces into small pieces and Set aside.


  • Mayonnaise: 1/4cup
  • Yogurt: 1/4cup
  • Tomato sauce: 1/4cup
  • Minced Garlic: 2 cloves or 2tsp
  • chopped fresh coriander leaves: 2tbsp
  • paprika or pepper: 1tsp
  • Chopped onions: 2tbsp
  • Sliced and boiled cabbage: 1/2cup
  • Sliced tomatoes: 1/4cup
  • Sugar: 1tbsp
Mix all the ingredients and adjust flavors if desired. Cover and refrigerate.
Cut the breads into half.
Spread sauce and vegetables mixture onto pita pockets. Place sliced beef and Serve hot..
