Chinese Szechuan beef


Chinese Szechuan beef:


Beef marinade:

  • beef: 500mg(cut into 3 inch long thin strips)
  • corn flour: 2tbsp
  • soya sauce: 1tsp

Szechuan sauce:

  • dry Red chilies: 4(crushed)
  • tomato ketchup: 4tbsp
  • Soya sauce: 1tbsp
  • chili sauce: 1tbsp
  • vinegar: 1tbsp
  • black pepper powder: 1tsp
  • mustard oil: 2tbsp or sesame oil
  • Sugar: 2tbsp
  • Beef/chicken stock: 1/4cup


  • chopped garlic: 2tbsp
  • red and green capsicum: 1cup(cut into thin strips)
  • Carrot: 1cup (sliced into long strips)
  • Celery : 1/4cup
  • sesame oil or butter: 2tbsp


Mix all the marinade ingredients and set aside for 30 minutes.
In a bowl, add all the sauce ingredients and mix well.
Heat 2tbsp oil in a frying pan, and fry beef pieces (7-10 mins) until crispy and brown. Add sauce mixture and cook for some minute or until meat is done and sauce is slightly thickened.
In another frying pan, add butter and garlic and stir fry for a few seconds. Add capsicums, carrot slices and stir fry for one minute.
Add the beef mixture and stir fry for 1-2 minutes, then add the celery and simmer for another minute.
Add salt to taste and transfer to a serving dish.
Serve hot with steamed rice.
