Chitol macher muitha(fish kofta)

Ingredients:

For kofta:

  • Chitol mach/ sheat Fish minced: 500mg (wash the fish and using fork or hand separate bones from fish flesh)
  • Corn flour: 1tbsp or mashed potato: 1cup
  • Ginger: paste 1 tsp
  • Garlic paste: 1 tsp
  • Garam masala: 1/2 tsp, powdered
  • Green  chili paste: 2
  • Cumin seeds: 1 tsp, roasted and powdered
  • Salt: 1/2tsp

For gravy:

  • Onion paste: ¼ cup
  • Ginger garlic paste: 1 tsp each
  • Coriander: 1tsp, powdered
  • Black pepper: 1/2 tsp, powdered
  • Garam masala: 1 tsp, powdered
  • Red chillies:1 tsp, powdered
  • Turmeric:1 tsp, powdered
  • Fresh coriander: 2tbsp, finely chopped
  • Green chilies: 4
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil: 1/2 cup
  • fried golden brown onions (beresta): 2 tbsp

Instructions:

Preparing kofta:

Add all kofta ingredients in a bowl and mix well.
make medium size round balls from the fish mixture.

Heat 1litre water in a bowl and let it boil. Place the balls in the hot boiling water and cook on medium heat until color changes (4 minutes). Take the fish balls out and set aside.

Preparing gravy:

Heat oil in a saucepan, add onion paste, salt, garlic-ginger paste, coriander, cumin, garam masala, turmeric and red chili powders. Stir well. Add some water and cook until oil separates.
Add cooked kofta into the gravy and mix well. Cook for 1 minute. Add 1 cup water. Stir for a bit. Make sure that the fish balls do not break by stirring rigorously. Cover and Cook for 10 minutes.
Sprinkle with fresh coriander, beresta and green chilies.
Serve with pulao or plain rice.
