Hot, sweet & sour hilsha/ilish:


• Hilsha/ilish fish: 8 pieces
• yogurt : 1/4 cup
• Ginger juice: 1 tbsp
• Onion paste: 1/2 cup
• Red chili powder: 3tsp
• Turmeric powder: 2tsp
• Coriander powder: 1tsp
• Salt as needed
• oil: 1/2cup
• Green chili, slit : 6
• sugar: 1tbsp


Wash and clean fish pieces and keep aside.
Pour the oil into a saucepan and bring up to a high heat. Now add onion paste, ginger juice, Red chili powder, turmeric powder salt and 2tbsp water into the saucepan and cook the masala until oil separates. Add 1/4cup yogurt and sugar and let it boil.
Now add the fish pieces and 2cup hot water into the masala gravy. Cover the lid tightly and cook on low flame for 1 hour or until oil separates.
Sprinkle some green chilies and Turn off the heat.
Serve with pulao or rice.
