Beef tehari


Dhakaia beef tehari:


For beef:

• beef: 1 kg(cut into medium pieces)
• Mustard oil: 1/2cup
• Yogurt/curd: 1cup
• Chopped onions: ½ cup
• Ginger paste: 2 tablespoon
• Garlic paste : 2 tablespoon
• Red Chili powder : 1 teaspoon
• Cumin powder: 1 teaspoon
• Grind into paste or powder:( 3 Cinnamon+4 Cardamom+ 3 clove+1/2 nutmeg+ pinch of mace)
• Salt as needed
• Sugar: 1 tablespoon

For tehari:

• Cooked beef with gravy
• Pulao rice: 5cup
• Ghee: 4 tablespoon
• Salt as needed
• Water: 9cup
• Green chilies: 10


Preparing beef:

Mix well all the ingredients except oil and onions with beef.
Heat mustard oil in a karahi, add onions and fry until golden.
Add beef into the karahi and cook for 2minutes on high heat.
Add 1/2 cup hot water, cover and cook on low flame till beef is tender(around 1 hour). Keep stirring occasionally.
After 1 hour turn off the heat and set aside.

Preparing tehari:

Heat ghee in a bowl; add green chilies and fry little bit on high heat. Now add beef gravy and fry for 1 minutes.
Add rice and fry for another 2 min on high flame.
Add 9 cup water into the rice and adjust salt.
Once the rice starts boiling, add the beef pieces and cook for 1 minute on high flame. Keep Stirring and mix well.
Cover the lid and keep over very low heat for 20 minutes.( don’t move the lid at these time…this is very important part for getting perfect tehari)
After 20 minutes, open the lid and turn off the heat. Sprinkle some ghee and mix with the tehari.
Serve hot.
